Procedures
Introduce topic by describing, activity name, content standard, and objectives.

Start the session by asking the following questions:

-What are some of the long term goals that people set?

-Is it worth it to plan to achieve a goal?

-How would you feel once you achieved those goals?

Do you think those goals can be achieved without proper planning and support?

Set the following scenario:

You want to visit the Grand Canyon. You begin to think about all the things you must prepare in order to be able to accomplish that wish. What kinds of things do we need to think about before you can actually go on that trip?

After a short discussion, tell the participants that planning is the key to accomplishing goals.

Add that in order to achieve a goal you must make realistic plans. According to Ander-Egg: "Planning consists in blending organization and rationality and taking them into action"

Inform the participants that we will read an article entitled "6 Ways to Achieve Any Goal".

Make six teams, and give each participant a copy of the article.

Assign each team one of the strategies.

Instruct all the teams to read individually their assigned part of the article and then they must discuss the strategy among themselves. Inform them that they need to identify a member of their group so that person can share what they discuss with the class at large.

After each representative summarizes what they discussed in their smaller groups, ask everyone to identify each strategy.

As a final activity, ask the participants to think of at least one strategy and to apply it to a specific plan they have for the future.
