Introduce topic by describing, activity name, content standard, and objectives. Start the session by asking the participants the following questions: -What kind of decisions we need to make that many times are very difficult to make? What aspects do you take into account before deciding what to do? DO you have a process or a system when you need to make a difficult decision? -Do you consult with person or family member? Have you made a decision that you knew immediately that is was not the correct choice? Can you share your experience? Inform the participants that according to Professor Pilar Martinez Clares, from the Department of Methods of Research and Diagnosis in Education, we are always making choices, from small to life-changing decisions. For many people, making important decisions in life involves some fear or at least uncertainty, because of the possibility of choosing incorrectly. Notify the participants that we will show a video that presents some aspects to consider in order to make better decisions. Ask them to pay attention to the recommendations becasue there will be a discussion about those recommendations. After watching the video, ask the participants the following questions: -When is the best moment to make decisions, in the morning or afternoon? How does sleep contribute to decision-making? How does exercise improve our decision-making? Have the participants discuss whether they believe these activities influence decision making or not, and why they think that way. After having discussed why they agree or disagree, say that according to Professor Pilar Martinez Clares, making a good decision implies setting the objective you want to achieve and to gather all the relevant information available about it. If we want to reach the goal, we must be aware that a good decision is a process that requires time and planning. As a final activity, ask the participants to help you figure out if those techniques can be implemented when we need to make decisions that are suddenly pose to us. For example, when we need to decide if we should drink at an event. How do we take into consideration all the aspects of the night. Are we driving, are we working next day, etc. |
