Introduce topic by describing, activity name, content standard, and objectives. Start the session by asking the following questions: -Is it important to set limits for drinking alcohol? Why? -Can it be done? -Has anyone, consciously, began to practice alcohol limit controls after their arrest? If so, how? Inform the participants that today's activities will focus on identifying ways to control and setting limits for alcohol consumption. Tell the participants that you will play a video titled, "Alcoholism: 10 Tips to Quit Drinking Alcohol." Ask the participants to identify at least two tips that they know they can implement in their lives. After watching the video, ask the participants ask the following questions: Do you think those tips are doable? Why, why not? -What is the most obvious tip that can be implemented easily and why? -Ask the participants to share the tips they chose and why? As the participants to share the tips with the class, make sure you write the complete list on the board. TIPS Tip 1. Do not keep alcohol at home or work. Tip 2. Do not skip meals. Tip 3. Do not act powerless. Tip 4. Do not let a mistake ruin your resolve. Tip 5. Maintain a healthy diet. Tip 6. Start exercising. Tip 7. Remember the heartache that alcohol caused in your life. Tip 8. Remember that sugar addiction is often combined with alcohol addiction. Tip 9. Recognize the miracle of pure drinking water. Tip 10. Be thankful for the blessings you possess. As a final activity, ask the participants to help you identify at least two benefits from each tip. |
