-How is that person when they are not drunk?

-How do you prefer that person and why?

-Do you know a person who is very annoying and sometimes dangerous when they are drunk?

-Can you share how is that person?

-Do you think that individuals who drink in excess and get drunk regularly think about wanting to be sober?

-Is it difficult to stay sober for those individuals?

What are the benefits for staying sober?

Inform the participants that we will read an article that describes all the specific benefits of staying sober.

Tell participants that they will read an article written by Sarah Dray who describes the benefits of staying sober in the emotional, financial and health areas.

Form three teams preferably and give a copy to each participant.

Assign each team a section of the article as follows:

-Team 1: Mental Clarity

-Team 2: Financial Stability

-Team 3: Health

Ask the participants to read the introduction to the article, and then the assigned section.

After they finish reading the article by themselves, ask them to discuss the information they read amongst their small group. Make sure they know to choose an individual who will report the important points of their discussion to the larger group. As each group reports back to the large group, make sure that they mention all the most important points. If they miss an important point, mention it.

For a final activity, ask the participants to help you identify and write at least three reasons why each participant should stay sober.

Tell the participants that this activity will help us decide better next time we have the choice between staying sober and getting "blasted."
